Audition Process Disclaimer:
We are so excited for you to audition for The Lopez Conservatory Program! Please remember when preparing that while we are auditioning with the show in mind, we are looking for students who show a desire and willingness to grow in this program. Our decisions will be made based on student’s ability to show talent, work ethic and passion for musical theatre. Notifications of entry into the program will be sent out on the Monday following auditions. Please note that roles WILL NOT
be allocated until the Kick-Off for the program.
As an educational program we prioritize the growth and development of our students and will not allocate roles until after we have selected students for the program. If you have any questions regarding this process, please email the Theatre Program Director,

MATILDA THE MUSICAL JR. Synopsis
Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson.
Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!

General Audition Requirements
- Accepting actors ages 8 – 18 (performers must not be older than a senior in high school)
- All those who audition must sign up for an audition group. Each group includes a vocal, acting, and dance portion. Please be aware that you
must stay for the entire audition in order to be considered for the program.
- Students MUST submit a Headshot (or picture) and Resume at Auditions.
- Please prepare ONE MINUTE of a Music Theatre Song.
- While it is not necessary, students are welcome to audition with a song from MATILDA Jr.
- Songs may be sung with a track, with accompanist –provided by you- or A Capella. We will have an aux cord and Bluetooth speaker available. We highly recommend singing with accompaniment.
- Please be prepared to stay to read a cold scene with others. There will also be a dance portion of the audition, so please dress accordingly.
- In view of the COVID-19 PANDEMIC, the Dance Audition portion will be done via a required Video Audition Submission. Performers will need to REVIEW THE DANCE AUDITION VIDEO HERE, learn the choreography, video themselves using the REVOLTING CHILDREN TRACK doing the choreography then upload their video HERE. Please make sure to label the video with the full name of the performer as well as indicate either Festival Division or Main Stage. Videos must be submitted at least 2 days prior to the audition date.
Role Allocation Note (Main Stage Program)
Our goal is to Double Cast the lead roles for the show, but this will greatly depend on the number of students that have been selected for the program. In the event we are able to Double Cast, each student performing a lead role will be featured in multiple performances and will also serve as the standby for the other cast. Again, Double Casting is not guaranteed!
